Novocain Modern Rock Party Band

Novocain is a combination of local area musicians with different experiences and lots of talent to bring to the band. With the outstanding harmonies and mastery of their respective instruments, Novocain is primed to be the next top tier cover band in the CT area. With lead vocalist Jeff Annino formally of the band "KICK" he brings experience, great vocals, and a stage presence that's second to none. Lead guitar player Nano Sciucco from the band "Girl Gone Bad" is another display of how the band has put together exceptional talent with fluency on the guitar that makes it look easy. The rhythm section of the band is comprised of drummer Dave Thayer formally from two successful bands such as "Pandemonium" and "The Degenerates" which goes to prove the pounding of the drums can bring a band to the next level. Bass player Chris Leland also of the local cover band "The Degenerates" completes the band by locking in the harmonies and keeping the bass thumping where you can feel it in your chest. Novocain's aim is to establish themselves as a band that is musically accurate to the songs they cover but at the same time try to make the songs original enough where you still interested in hearing these great songs again and again.

Concrete Jungle Old School Rap and Hip Hop

Concrete Jungle nails the attitude dead-on by combining musical talent with a totally unhinged stage show. Psycho rapper Jeff Tuohy is in a constant state of freakout. Jay Wiggin picks up the keyboard like a gigantic boom box and parades it around while playing. And when they break out the horns.. you got to see it to believe it

River Mud Rock and Roll Party Band

March 15th 2003 was a banner day for an unknown band known as "River Mud". "We felt that we had to get out there and get re-aquatinted with playing in front of an audience. It had been years since any of us had done that." said River Mud front man Bob Carlson. The response was unbelievable. Almost 200 people showed up at a small bar in Wolcott just to see them play as an opening act. At this point they realized that they had something special and there was no choice but to continue.

Comprised of a group of veteran musicians who work together at the Siemon Company in Watertown, the band was formed as a gift to the company as part of the organization's 100 year anniversary celebrations in 2003. "The idea of forming a band of all Siemon employees to help celebrate the centennial was very well received by the members as well as the company. It also gave a group of guys who only knew each other through work and special projects a chance to become friends." explains Domenic Mainella bass player. The main reason for the formation of the band was to play at Siemon's Centennial Picnic in August 2003. Once the band started getting together and practicing, it became apparent that the project would turn into more than just playing a few songs at the company picnic, and the band took to the bars.

River Mud plays a broad range of cover music from classic rock, Motown and disco, to pop, to some heavier classic rock. According to Chris Soricelli, lead guitarist "Our mix of music includes something for everyone. The compliment that I get most is that people love the range of music. We can get the girls dancing and the metal heads head banging in the same set, which from what I've seen is pretty rare." Even Carl Siemon, President of the Siemon Company, walked away impressed "I heard that these guys were good", said Carl, "but when I heard them perform live at the Centennial picnic, I realized that they were really good. I say, it's good to have some River Mud in the blood. Rock on!"

Lick High Energy Party Rock Band

Lick is one of the best new Party bands on the CT Music scene. Here is what the Hartford advocate has to say.

This may be the cover band Lick's first appearance in the Band Slam winners' circle, but they've been on Hartford's mind for a while now. They frequently make our nominations, and they played our 2006 Snow Slam concert. Dina Papacostas has been singing with Lick since 2005. Along with singing on the weekends with her band, she is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Special Education at Southern Connecticut State University. Neil Shapiro has been performing in the state for the last 14 years and is honored that fans voted him Best Bassist this year. "Our band members Mark Mauro, Mark Tardif, and Dean Cardinale are amazing musicians right along with Dina and me, and we are excited to continue our schedule into 2009," says Shapiro. When "Dr. Neil" isn't rockin' the bass, he is a dentist at Shapiro Family Dentistry in Wethersfield. No word on whether Shapiro was responsible for naming the band.

THE ZOO

THE ZOO is no ordinary band. When a huge demand for dates from Boston to Florida and all points in-between, far outweighs availability, you know this talented quintet must be something special. If a venue is packed and the line outside stretches around the corner, theres a good chance THE ZOO are performing inside. Chosen from over 13,000 entries for MTVs Ultimate Cover Band competition, THE ZOO placed as finalists and prize winners, giving them a nationwide reputation rivaling that of some of the country's top recording artists. Sponsored by Coors Light, the bands future grows brighter every day. The members include Randall John on vocals and rhythm guitar, exuding a charismatic intensity that fixates an audience on his every move. Nick on lead guitar exhibits the same intense flair of performance. Tobey on Drums, and Scott Evil on Bass Guitar, have created a rhythm section that is tight and forceful. On female Vocals is the incredible Ginger, who has added her powerful voice and beauty to this entertaining ensemble. With this bands ability and enigmatic stage performance, there will never be a disappointed viewer.

THE RENARD BOISSIERE QUARTET

Born and raised in New Orleans, Renard Boissiere has been infected with the music virus since a child like so many native New Orleanians. Having played in various ensembles and groups since childhood, he traveled to Europe after high school, performing with a symphony, and has soaked up all the forms and fantasies present in New Orleans culture.

He regularly performs both as a solo singer-guitarist and piano player, as well as in group settings, leading and participating in a diverse collection of projects, including the Freelance Pallbearers, a New Orleans-inspired jamband, the jazz-funk collective, Rambunction, and Mystic Bowie’s Reggae World Music extravaganza. He has worked and recorded with the Neville Brothers and the TomTom Club in the past, and recently recorded at Tuff Gong studios in Kingston, Jamaica, the home of Bob Marley’s label.

Big Floppy Disk High Energy Party Band

Widely heralded as the best looking band in the Northeast, Big Floppy Disk brings the kind of party that can't be ignored. Legions of loyal fans, known as The Diskheads, have been knocking down the doors at clubs across the tri-state area just to catch a glimpse of the band crowned Best Cover Band by The 2008 Hartford Advocate Grand Band Slam. Not since the Beatles has a band seen such hysteria from the ladies when performing. Big Floppy Disk has the sound, maturity and sexual appetite of a much younger band. Always the giver, keyboardist That Guy, winner of both the 2007 & 2008 Hartford Advocate Grand Band Slam for Best Keyboardist, gives free breast examinations at every show. Johnny 5's low bass gives just the right vibrations, while Dr J's beats keep you going all night long. And no one thinks Freddy 4Play is a better guitarist than Freddy 4Play himself, who can often be found between sets cleaning his guitar with hundred dollar bills. Clubs have been clamoring to hire Big Floppy Disk due to the extremely high beer sales as the band often drinks as much as the entire crowd.

Twice as energetic as the competition and three times as obnoxious, this is the kind of party where the hangover is worth it!
